  2. Chair Remarks, Chaya Sandler, CAP Chair
    1. New Zoom link for this year for the meetings! It’s easier to register yourself than to forward the registration.
    2. Welcome, new district reps–they have been posted to the website. Find your rep at https://cap.illinois.edu/your-representatives/
    3. CAP was asked to share a message from an outside group who is sending a survey to APs. The survey has questions about compensation, benefits, fairness, etc. Find more information and survey link at https://aapuiuc.org .
    4. CAP is considering in-person engagement, especially because there is no All-Employee Expo this year. An email will go out mid-Sept to explore interest in any in-person engagement. Or you can contact Chaya if interested! csandle2@illinois.edu
    5. CAP is exploring how our AP benefits compare to Civil Service and to peers at other institutions. Systems HR has been tasked with surveying how our benefits compare nationwide. CAP is working on getting a more specific timeline for this project. We have seen some differences between, for example, AP and Civil Service benefits thus far.

  1. A “Children in the Workplace” policy was just passed. This establishes criteria for children to visit parents in the workplace. Find it here https://cam.illinois.edu/policies/hr-89/ and watch E-Week for revisions or proposals for new policies.
  2. Supervisor Fundamentals was recently redesigned and launches this fall. This workshop series supports supervisors with less than 3 years’ experience.   3. Salary program—This year campus announced a 2% merit-based salary program; individual increases may differ for APs.
  4. Federal updates steering group—New regulations for F1 and J1 visa holders have been announced. ISSS continues to provide support for the international community affected, and a task group has been convened. https://federalupdates.illinois.edu/

 

  1. Senate Review Commission, Eric Kurt and Senate Updates, Chaya Sandler
    1. The Ninth Senate Review Commission has extended their timeline into January to continue their examination of Senate committees and their compositions. Any questions, updates, feedback about the Senate or AP involvement with Senate can be shared at SenateReviewCommission@illinois.edu

    4. CSEA award—One AP serves on this award committee; a call will go out for nominations to see who is interested in serving.
  2. Grievance Updates, Brian Fulton, CAP Grievance Officer
    1. Grievances have been ongoing throughout the summer and continue into the fall. It’s been a busy time for grievances and they continue to be time-intensive.
  3. New Business
    1. Invitation—Any AP can bring an item for CAP to discuss to any member of the CAP executive team or Chaya directly at csandle2@illinois.edu.
    2. UPPAC— This group comprised of AP reps from UIC, UIS, and UIUC held its first meeting of the academic year and discussed ways to keep APs engaged.
    3. The meeting agendas will list upcoming meetings for the academic year (and they are listed below as well)
