September Meeting Minutes
September 4, 2025 Time: 1:02 pm
- Call to order, Eric Kurt, CAP Chair
- No speaker this month
Chair Remarks, Eric Kurt, CAP Chair
- Bylaw updates: Updates are delayed by 1-2 months to allow sufficient time for consideration, accuracy, and revision. Will continue to provide updates on that project in the future.
- District 10 representative has moved into a new position in a new district. Will need to hold a new District 10 election. Please consider running and/or take the time to vote in this new election. Your volunteerism is appreciated. More information from Lisa will be forthcoming.
- Senate Ad Hoc Committee on Honorary Degrees—this committee does not have AP representation; it replicated representation from the SEC Committee on Honorary Degrees, which also does not have an AP. Just an FYI; bringing that to everyone’s attention so that we know why there was no AP representation there.
- Ninth Senate Review Commission = A commission to review the senate every seven years. CAP executive committee put forth nominees for AP representation on this commission to the Senate Committee on Committees. 2 out of 4 AP nominees will be elected on Sept. 15th to serve on this Commission. This is an opportunity to effect change by serving on this committee and possibly increase AP representation on Senate. If you have any thoughts on anything Senate-related, please share with CAP exec board.
- October’s meeting will be moved to October 9 (from Oct. 2) in respect of religious observances, based on requests that were received.
- Guest speakers for the term: Provost Coleman in December, President Killeen in February, Chancellor Isbell in April (a joint meeting between SAC and CAP). Calls for questions will be forthcoming. It’s a direct line to ask questions important to APs…please start thinking of questions for them.
- Future meeting topics: Comparisons between APs and CS Pro (next month), a discussion of Senate committees.
- All-Employee Expo October 23: Call for volunteers for the CAP table. More info coming in next month’s meeting.

- Academic Senator and Senate Committee Reports, Eric Kurt, CAP Chair– SEC Updates
- Senate Executive Committee—first meeting was spent discussing the Ad Hoc Committee and Ninth Review Commission elections.
- SEC shared governance retreat was fantastic. Very well attended and informative about budget, promotion and tenure. Of interest to APs: They reiterated Provost Communication 3—this is a bottom-up university in terms of decision-making.
- Another topic for future meeting will be hosting someone from the Office of the Vice Chancellor for Diversity, Equity & Inclusion to discuss the current status of diversity and inclusion initiatives due to recent federal changes.
