CAP August Meeting Minutes

- Welcome back!
- New meeting format: 1-2 pm; streamlining content to keep to an hour. Will be requesting content ahead of time. Follow up emails will be forthcoming after the meeting with ongoing items/additional information. A goal is to provide more opportunities to engage with topics.
- New district CAP reps: If unable to attend—inform Eric and your other district rep. Seeking increased engagement. Working to create district listservs so that reps can engage with districts and obtain feedback.
- Seeking suggestions for increased engagement—contact Eric (ekurt@illinois.edu) with ideas!
- Campus policy changes: The official notification of campus policy changes is provided in e-week. Make sure to check there for important items; feel free to bring any items affecting APs to Eric’s attention.
- Bylaws update: Continuing the draft of revisions; expecting to provide those soon. CAP will have access to the draft 30 days prior to a meeting at which they will be voted on. Most updates are updating outdated information to make sure they are current and correct. There will be opportunity for feedback.
- Grievance policy and update: Conversations are ongoing. Once solid direction and feedback is finalized, Eric will report back.
- Upcoming term priorities:
- Inequities between CS Professionals and APs. A list of noted discrepancies will be provided in the future so that the CAP membership can consider whether there are matters that should be prioritized and addressed.
- Federal updates to educational environment. A standing agenda item to see whether there are specific federal updates affecting APs or items that APs would like to get more information about
- Soliciting ideas from membership for upcoming term—open to any and all ideas from membership
- SNAP’ed program—47 APs got their Notice of Non Reappointment; what is being done/can be done to support those employees?
- Brian Farber shared that IHR is offering transition assistance in the form of in-person and asynchronous training including identifying transferable skills, resume and cover letter tips.

- 47 APs were involved in the SNAP’ed closure; IHR is creating programs to assist those affected to transition to other employment.
- Staff professional development fund: https://humanresources.illinois.edu/employee-experience/current-employee/connect-engage/ $75k available annually. Q1: 11k awarded, 22 recipients. 11 CS and 11 AP. Apply before you travel!
- All Employee Expo: Oct. 23, 10-2 at State Farm Center. Save the date!
- CAP asked LER to manage grievance process in Jan. 25. IHR wants to have a process in place that APs can have confidence in. In the meantime, APs should rely on local and campus resources and reach out early when something challenging arises.
