      • Presented slate of 2025-2026 CAP officers for election and opened for discussion.

      No discussion was initiated.

      • Motion to approve the slate of CAP officers by consent vote was made by Neil Baer and seconded by Lisa Goodpaster Lahners.
      • Oral vote was taken to approve by consent. Motion was unanimously approved.
      • Future meeting format
        • Pre-COVID, 1:15 pm meeting time was logical as people were traveling across campus to the in-person meeting. Difficult to hold the meeting to 45 minutes but ending the meeting at 2:15/2:30 creates other scheduling issues.
        • It was announced that a decision would be shared before the August meeting.
      • Priorities for upcoming year
        • Reviewing and revising CAP bylaws
        • CS Professional equity and representation (possibly by CAP)

4. Human Resources Report, Brian Farber ,Chief of Staff & Special Projects, IHR Administration

  • A consultation Staff Professional Development Fund awarded $7,000 in the fourth quarter to 15 recipients (6 AP and 9 civil service). Total awarded this year = $51,330. Remaining = $23,670 ($75,000 allotted annually). Total recipients this year = 105–50 AP, 55 civil service, and 16 not approved or expended. Already awarded 6 recipients for next fiscal year, 5 civil service and 1 AP for a total of $3000. Applications are open here.
  • Anniversary Awards were sent out to celebrants from Jan-June, and the store will begin shipping items in July after a few bumps. Response has been very positive; about 60% of recipients have already redeemed their codes. Anniversary awards website
  • Faculty-Staff Emergency Fund annual drive is ongoing. The fund assists other faculty and staff in times of crisis. Consider donating here.
  • All-Employee Expo is returning on October 23, 2025 at State Farm Center. Save the date. The planning committee will have CAP representatives.
  • Illinois Supervisory Skills program applications were open until Monday, June 23.
  • Federal Updates Steering Committee FAQs are coming out regularly. Feel free to submit a question to federalupdates@illinois.edu.
  • has been scheduled with one individual and a formal grievance has been resolved (the first under the new process).


5. Academic Senator and Senate Committee Reports,
Eric Kurt, CAP Chair- SEC Updates

  • Board of Trustees meeting was mainly a farewell to Chancellor Jones. Public comments included concerns about violence on campus.
  • Senate Executive Committee (SEC) had its final meeting of the term.
    • New term will continue to focus on ST-83, Big Ten Academic Alliance partnerships, size of incoming freshman class/overall student population.
    • The university has joined two lawsuits regarding federal research (NSF and NIH).
    • An uncertain university budget update was given. A hiring chill (not freeze) is being considered.
