      • Chancellor Search. Hopefully many of you took advantage of the listening sessions offered to faculty, staff, and students from the Chancellor’s search committee.  Jen Bernhard, search co-chair, facilitated the sessions that sought insights and feedback on what the search committee should look for in a new chancellor.  The search process will begin in earnest with the help of a search firm.  This search will be conducted by System HR at the discretion of President Killeen.  Note that the search will be confidential to attract the best talent available. https://www.uillinois.edu/urbana_champaign_chancellor_search
      • Employee Engagement and Recognition (EER). We are pleased to announce Denise Burger as our inaugural director of EER who will start her position on February 17. Denise most recently served as the VP of Human Resources for Litania Group (the sports equipment company) and has a rich history of human resources work across many organizations.  Denise will lead many EER initiatives, including but not limited to comprehensive employee onboarding, recognition and award programs, and as a critical partner in promoting a culture of appreciation, belonging, and connectedness.
      • All Employee Expo. The All-Employee Expo will return in the fall of 2025 at the State Farm Center.  We have tentatively held October 23 for the event.  Please give Denise some time to get her feet wet, but IHR will work to solicit planning committee members from both CAP and SAC to execute the event.
      • Anniversary Awards. As announced many times before, IHR is excited to launch our new anniversary awards program that will recognize employees on milestone anniversaries with digital certificates, codes to purchase an online gift that will be shipped to their home, and an annual breakfast event for all celebrating employees. The event is planned for February 24, 2025 at the Illinois Conference Center and invitations are out.
      • We have encountered some delays in the certificates and codes for our January 2025 celebrants, but plan to catch up on January and February awards later this month.
      • Illinois Value Proposition launch event. Planning is actively underway to launch the IVP in an interactive event at the Siebel Center for Design on March 13 that will include activities, information, and a celebration of the unique combination of rewards, opportunities, and experiences Illinois offers to attract, engage, and retain top talent.  IHR will be inviting both CAP and SAC representatives to participate and hopefully serve as ambassadors for the new program.
      • Asynchronous Learning from ELOE. ELOE continues to produce microlearnings (called “Guidance on the Go”) on our website that will link you to Canvas.  If you have not seen the FLSA training, please check it out.  The next series will be for the Professional Partnership Program (PPP) which outlines the progressive discipline program for CS staff.
      • https://humanresources.illinois.edu/about/culture-learning-engagement/employee-learning-organizational-effectiveness/supervisor-development/#guidance-on-the-go
      • President, Chancellor, and Provost visits: A reminder that the President Killeen is expected to attend on March 6 at 1:30.
      • Performance Management Program: In response to SAC’s request, Becky Hinrichs and I presented at the February SAC meeting on the new Performance Management website and specifically the resources and tools IHR has been spearheading for annual performance reviews.  If CAP would desire such a presentation and overview, we’d be happy to do so at your request.
      • CAP only: Grievance Procedures: As we have discussed in the fall, IHR has adopted the new grievance procedures recommended by CAP and it is now live on the website. CAP still serves as a resource to APs in the process and any AP may choose to consult with CAP officers for feedback and advice.  LER will be responsible for reviewing AP grievances.  You can find those procedures linked in many places on our website including in the “Policies and Guidelines” link under Labor and Employee Relations>Grievance Procedures, and in our A-Z index under “G” for Grievance.
  6. Staff Advisory Council Report, Dale Billam, SAC representative
    • No report but were given an overview of the new Performance Management website by Brian Farber and ELO director Becky Heinrich.
  7. Academic Senator and Senate Committee Reports, SEC Updates – Eric Kurt, Chair Council of Academic Professionals
    • Stats from President; UP 17,000 students in the system over the last 10 years. 1.4B in Scientific Research grants; significant deferred maintenance on all campuses.
    • Heard from UIUC DIA Athletic Director Whitman; predominantly on NIL and settlement in the House v NCAA Will likely result in compensation for athletes and reducing or removing scholarship caps.
  8. CAP Committee Reports
    • ST-83; Rich Gegg: The elections committees are working to add some verbiage get civil service and additional APs on the electorate. They agreed with both the civil service SAC and CAP put forward a request to do so. EAC is responding to a SEC GUP request to come up with some language. We’re looking at moving forward with that and coming up with some language that’s moving forward. The culture is very positive and receptive of being more inclusive of all of the employees of the university and not just faculty, especially since we have a university senate that focuses on all of university activities and not just teaching and learning. It is key that we have some of those additional voices in there on some of those committees. Very positive and it seems to be moving forward.
  9. Grievance Updates, Todd Sweet, CAP Grievance Officer
    • No updates with new policy – did have a consultation over winter break but referred to new process with IHR.
  10. New Business
  11. Closed Session– No closed session
  12. Adjourn
