- Record high number of admissions in all categories, with more underrepresented students than ever before. Services for these students are being reviewed to make sure there will be appropriate support
- Illinois ranks 2nd in the country, behind New Jersey, for students who leave the state to go to universities in other states. The committee is looking at why students are leaving at such high rates. The first assumption is that funding and financial aid packages are not competitive.
- The U of I is now accepting the Common App college admission process, increasing the ways to apply to the university to three. The addition has increased the work load and processes to ensure adequate staffing and support are under review.
- In 2025, universities are expecting fewer admission. Fewer children were born during the 2008 recession and thus fewer students will be entering college starting that year.
- If anyone is interested in the University Uniform Admission – Transfer Guarantee Bill that was signed by the Governor, please email elliott3@illinois.edu
- Elections and Credentials: Brian Farber
- Request for an additional AP member
- The committee meet in September
- Voting eligibility was discussed. The committee voted to get AP lists from central services rather than asking Dept heads for list. It is expected that this will expedite the process and provide more accurate lists. Also under discussion is that many APs have been removed because of PAPE discrepancies which may or may not be justified. Changes to which APs are allowed to vote will require a constitutional amendment. This is still under discussion.
