September 2021 Monthly CAP Meeting

  1. Call to Order – Meeting to order at 1:15
  2. Guest Speaker: Chancellor Jones
    • Chancellor Jones provided updates on COVID response as the academic year begins again. As per the Governor’s mandate, all faculty and staff must be vaccinated by October 4 or request an exemption through the ADA office as soon as possible. As of Tuesday afternoon, 89% of undergrads, 90% of grad, 83% of faculty, 89% of APs, and 67% of CS have uploaded vaccine cards.
    • The official enrollment report will be out next week. The enrollment numbers are excellent.

    • We will continue meeting virtually through at least January.
    • Thank you for all you are doing for campus and to make the return-to-work program a smooth process.
    • Remember there are Covid benefits outlined in recent emails.

  7. Academic Senator Reports
    • 1st Senate meeting is scheduled for the September 20. No communication has been shared as of this meeting.
  1. Academic Senate Committee Reports
    • Committees: Chaya Sandler
      • Watch for positions that come open through the year.
    • Senate Executive Committee (SEC): Rich Gegg & Brian Brauer
      • Discussed the impact of the COVID Delta variant and F&S air flow and water safety protocols at a recent meeting. Cleaning and deep cleaning protocol have been implemented.
  1. CAP Committee Reports
    • CAPE Awards Committee:
      • Need a chair and vice chair. We have had some volunteers, but if others are interested, please reach out to CAP reps. All APs are eligible. Do not need to be a CAP representative
    • Outreach Committee:Lisa Merrifield, John Scott
      • October Speaker: Kent Brown, History and Virtual Tour of Memorial Stadium
      • November Speakers: Heidi Johnson and Nazim, OAE, on Pay equity discussions
      • We are looking for additional committee members. If you want to help showcase speakers from across campus at CAP meetings, please join.
    • Ad Hoc Committee on Bylaws: Jayesh Patel, Mindy Spencer
      • By-laws have been sent to HR and HR is reviewing them.
  1. Illinois Human Resources Report – Deb Stone, Interim Senior Associate Chancellor for Human Resources, and James Gallaher, Executive Director of Strategic Initiatives
    • HR will have further discussions at the system level to ensure benefits equity between APs and professional civil service employees.
    • James will serve as the primary liaison to CAP going forward.
    • AP Professional Development Fund – 17 total applications. $6,115 spent.
    • By next month HR will have a report of how many have officially applied to work remotely and how many will return to campus. Consult the CAM policy approved as of July 15 regarding hybrid work if there are questions.
    • A message will be going out from Chancellor regarding requesting a religious or medical exemption to the Covid vaccine mandate.

    • Senate run-off — runoffs are complete
    • How do we Solicit for Public comment with Virtual meetings?
      • If there are recommendations, please share with Rich
    • District newsletter template is forthcoming
      • Will use information from minutes to better engage the broader campus community.
